Opawa Community Garden

Welcome to the best kept secret of Opawa.

 Located between the City and Lyttelton, we have a well established garden, as well as a vibrant, open and friendly membership. Our garden includes espaliered fruit trees, many raised beds for growing vegetables, berry-bushes. Also, we have a small greenhouse and a populated chicken-run. As well as growing our own produce, we are committed to help grow a stronger community, broaden friendships, and generally have an enjoyable time doing so.

How the garden came about

 Several members of the Opawa Community Church approached Christchurch City Council to investigate the availability of some local unused land with a view to starting a community garden.
