The Community Garden came into being on the 6th October 2013 as a group of students from the Student Volunteer Army, members of the Riccarton West Neighbourhood Policing team and residents of the local community came to together to dig the bare land and prepare the site for planting. The land has been loaned to the community of Riccarton by Housing New Zealand on a year to year basis with a contract signed between the two parties.
Through the hard work of many volunteers, sponsorship from business’ and funding from the Need Now Fund (Rata Foundation) and Riccarton/ Wigram Community Board CCC the garden has evolved to where it is today and the focus and impact in has in the community of Riccarton.
