Garden Plots and Bell Birds
Situated in Harewood and flanked by native trees and the singing of birds, Wai-ora Trust offers allotment style garden plots to family and community groups from all areas of the city. All tools, seedlings, wheelbarrows, compost and irrigation is supplied along with the ongoing support of our Community Gardens Coordinator who is here to help you succeed.
Everyone is welcome but we do ask that you have a small group that can commit to working on your plot at least once a week. New groups start with a half plot and can progress to a full plot if they choose. All vegetables of individual plots are harvested by that family/group and used or shared as they desire however vegetables are not be grown for sale.
Each month you are welcome to come to a shared BBQ which is held in the gardens along with cooking classes which highlight how to use season vegetables grown in the garden plots.
If you would like more details, or to come to view the Wai-ora Community Gardens please contact us on the number above.
